Dropping Gatewar is a thrill. You are soaring between canyon walls and landing in a churning waterfall. It's a big leap of faith and a surreal experience. The waterfall is about 27 feet tall, and when you are looking down on it from Gateway... you really get a feel for the vertical height you are about to descend.
Gateway is located on the east side of the canyon and is the perch where the fence juts out right above the waterfall. Some people have claimed it is 127 feet (the guys who made Cliff Notes) but I personally think the height is closer to 85 feet. Gateway isn't the biggest jump on the Circuit at Lynn Canyon, but it certainly is the most epic. I think Bridge to Abyss is much sketchier, and that Kamikazee is larger. But the view on the way down from Gateway is epic. The POV shot tells it all.
I would just like to remind everyone that Lynn Canyon is a dangerous place to jump. People die here all the time. So if you choose to jump here, and if you don't have an experience local to guide you around, only jump in August and if the water level is LOW. If it has been raining lately or the water is still running high, it is easy to get taken by the undertow and drown. So watch yourself and be careful, hang out and wait for someone who knows the way to show you around.
