Great spot to go camping in the summer Take highway 99 from Vancouver, turn up the Squamish Valley, turn onto Magee road. Its a beautiful and free campground right on the river with lots of open space and firewood around. The river is nice and slow moving and great for a boat float. Get some explorer 200's from wal-mart and enjoy a six pack floating downstream. There is lots of open sandy areas to play. The Squamish river runs alongside the campground. The water is clean and refreshing, though that grey aquamarine from all the cold glacial sediment. They recently altered the entry and cars can no longer drive onto the beach. You do have to lug your stuff maybe 150m to the beach, but its kinda nice getting rid of the cars. I still love car camping though. One word of caution, last time I was here, I did see two cars overturned into the ditch, allegedly due to some degenerates who weren't very nice. But don't let those sour apples scare yet, its a great spot. I last saw many families here, but also many groups of young people partying. Its great for both, just give each other appropriate space, its a big beach with lots of space.
