Blackcomb has an amazing backcoutry for out of bounds skiing. It accesses far more zones within a 30-120 minute hike than Whistler. Plus the line on Blackcomb are better. The primary route begins from the Blackcomb Glacier. Take the Showcase T-Bar up to the glacier and follow the highest traverse line all the way along the wind lip and beyond. If you stay high and go far across, you will get funnelled to the out-of-bounds demarcation and there is usually a well defined hiking boot pack and ski trail from the point. This hike takes about 30 minutes by skins and 45 by bootpack, depending on the snow. Note that rather than heading to the cull, you can turn lookers right and access various runs into Body Bag Bowl.
Leading into Body Bag Bowl includes:
Disease Ridge - Steep lines named after venereal diseases: Gonorhea, Syphillis, Herpes, AIDS
DOA - Stands for Dead On Arrival. A must ski as part of the Whistler experience, famously photographed alpine chute
Satisfaction - Ultra nasty perma closure with Euro style multi exposures and a no fall zone
19th Hole - Mellow cornice line and pow face dropping back to 7th Heaven Chair
Booterville - Typically accessed as the high traverse from 7th Heaven Chair. No hiking required.
From the Spearhead Cull, you have many options including:
Husume - Steep and long vert. Excellent choice
Mother's Line - Mellow trail back to the bottom of the cull, decent if you want a quick lap
Corona - Wide open powder field
Asian Pussy - Super nasty chute the cutes between a huge cliff band. No fall zone.
Phalanx Ridge - The gateway to upper Poop Chutes and the North West face of Phalanx
Decker - Incredible zone with Finger Chutes and 9th Hole
Please note that Blackcomb is a huge area and this map location is still under heavy construction.
