Capilano River - Treasure Map

Information Info Maps Photos Videos Comments

There are two main cliff jumping areas along the Capilano River: the Fish Hatchery and Granny's Cove. This page is a guide for the fish hatchery. The upper part of the Capilano River right below the Cleveland Dam is great for fishing, swimming and cliff jumping. There are a variety of different sized cliffs from little 10 footers up to a nice 60 footer off a pipeline bridge. There are several jumps in the happy 30 to 40 foot range as well. The most common drop is the wooden bridge right at the fish hatchery. It's a great height but when the water level is low, you can hit bottom. We set up a trampoline on this bridge a few times at low water, so its fine, but just be aware. A little up river from the bridge and just below the dam is a look out point with several spots to jump in. Down river from the bridge is another lookout point with some small 10 to 20 foot cliffs that are good for learning on. If you follow the river down further, there is a pipeline bridge into a narrow part of the canyon which is really sick, kinda tough to climb out afterwards, but super fun. There are other drops around this bridge too, but be sure to check out the water depth before jumping.

If you keep on going further down river, you will hit Granny's Cover which has a bunch of drops, and used to have a rope swing (why do people keep on cutting them down when idiots get hurt? let them take their licking and let others have fun, everyone knows what can happen when you play with fire). And even further down river are some other cliffs and eventually the Capilano Suspension Bridge.

And the whole region is just beautiful, its a great place to go for a hike and picnic with the girlfriend.
