Cypress Creek Canyoning - Treasure Map

Information Info Maps Photos Videos Comments

This is a beautiful creek to explore, or as they call it, go canyoning. It is a smaller version of Lynn Canyon and you travel up a beautiful river with canyon walls and fallen logs everywhere. It's gorgeous to behold. Fairly easy to get around with no very gnarly climbs. You may need a boost here or there, but that is the extent of it. After going upriver for about 2 or 3 km, it ends in a 30 foot waterfall that you would need ropes to scale. There are hooks in the rock if you are inclined to do so. Many small, precision landing cliffs line this creek and its super fun to get creative with little gaps and various features.

You have to go when the water level is low, so try August - the prime time for canyoning in Vancouver. The water is typical North Shore cold, so be ready for it. To get here, you take Exit 4 on the Upper Levels highway (highway 99) and then backtrack east on Woodgreen to Woodcrest to Almondel road. The creek beneath the bridge is the one you seek. Technically you are not supposed to park on the street beside the bridge, last time I checked, so just drive to a nearby neighborhood street and walk over. Now get down to the creek and walk UP river. Down river is not as interesting.
